James Garvin has announced that OMC Games will unveil a new Jaguar game at JagFest. If anyone that is going to JagFest would like to write a preview of this game or a general report on the festival please send it to me at [email protected]. Thanks!

Here is the message that was posted at Jaguar interactive II:

New Game info...

Posted by James Garvin (cache1.gw.utexas.edu) on June 21, 2001 at 13:15:05:

I'm taking a few minutes away from programming to give everyone a bit of an update on the new game I'm going to unveil at JagFest next week.

The biggest thing is that if you're not going to the fest, you won't be able to play it. At no point am I going to be releasing a demo of the game. I'll try to get some QT movies or something posted on the OMC site, but I make no promises there. On the day of the fest (next Saturday), I'll have the actual information page up which will include screenshots and game information much like the ones up right now for the other games. I think I'll wait until late afternoon as I don't want the announcement to be spoiled too early.

The game itself is nothing you guys have heard of. I'm doing this one because it's quick, easy, and gives everyone something new to play until we get finished with Scent Of the Spider. I think everyone will be surprised as to what type of game it is and the overall graphical look of it (at least I hope so). Unfortunately, I don't know how much Andrew and I will be able to cram into this demo before Wednesday, but I'm working overtime to make sure it's satisfying for those who will get a chance to see it for the first time.

Anyway, we're going to be working hard to make sure it's one of the best games in its genre..in both looks, and gameplay. It's our goal to make sure we deliver the goods.

Bonnell speaks about Atari  06/21/01

Tomorrow MCV will publish an interview with the CEO of Infogrames, Bruno Bonnell. This interview will cover Infogrames plans for the Atari brand along with other topics.

Here is a short sample of the interview:

What are your definite plans for the Atari brand?

Bruno Bonnell: We gained the Atari name as part of the Hasbro deal and we like it a lot. It will become a major brand again, probably from October. We will use the Atari name on big games like Stuntman and the Unreal series. Hasbro used Atari as a classic arcade brand, but we're going the other way. If Atari decided to launch as a company today, it wouldn't do Pong, it would do a leading edge game.

Could you really drop the Infogrames name altogether, making it just the holding company's name?

Bruno Bonnell: Maybe, but clearly this is not green-lighted. And even if we did do it, that wouldn't be in the short-term.
