* NEW! International Karate Plus (ST) Review
* NEW! Jaguar Scores Update!
* NEW! Cool Link
* Revisit: Food Fight for the 7800 review

Here's a snippet from the Slam Racer report:
Gibson is hopeful that Slam Racer will be available soon after Songbird Productions releases Protector SE with the JagFree CD Bypass code. "Well, I hope to finish it pretty quick and have it ready to put out on CD for use with Carl's Protector SE." He does offer up this warning, however. "It could potentially take a very long time to finish Slam Racer. It's playable at the moment, but there's so much stuff needing to be done. I'll make it work on CD so any Jag owners that are left can at least see it."

Lastly, The Atari Times still has a few copies left of the 2001 Year End Issue! Be sure to pick one up soon before they are all gone!

I personally think that this is nothing but a ruse, but maybe I'll be proven wrong. Anyone have proof of this game or know who is behind it?

Dungeon Quest 64 Announcement

Posted by Dungeon Quest 64 Master (216.40.243.22) on December 27, 2001 at 09:44:11:

[For your interest. Happy Holidays, Jaguar fans. Let's talk Jaguar.]

Dungeon Quest 64 will be a traditional RPG created from scratch for Atari Jaguar, but easily playable to fans of games of this kind on both PC and consoles alike.

Featuring 3 characters, the warrior, the adventurer, and the priest, each having a number of unique attributes, and a different set of objectives in every dungeon, the player will have to choose between the strength and materialism of the warrior, the wide and enlightened experience of the adventurer, and the natural protection of the priest who is strong in spirit but not in body, and decide how to progress.

[Your name] returns to his village after travels abroad to find that forces of evil have taken hold since the nearby castle fell into the hands of the dark lord Spiel. Already, a large group of villagers, and former knights of the castle, led by the parish priest have gone missing, having gone to take on the forces of Spiel there.

Many other villagers have disappeared in the hours of darkness, their goods left scattered on the floors of their houses, confirming the departure were unplanned. Among those villagers taken is someone so dear to you, you vow not to speak their name until you have found them again, or found out their fate, and revenged it. You, after all, veteran of so many campaigns with the King against the lords of darkness should not fear one last battle with evil before you seek your peace.

The adventure draws from the classic RPG genre and attempts to build on the very strengths of the Jaguar in 2D presentation rather than any attempt at first person 3D, and recognises the very limited resources available to Jaguar 64 programmers, but still offering a deep and absorbing adventure which should be very replayable.

The game will use the following joypad functions.

A - Open / examine / talk
B - Attack current enemy
C - Toggle weapons / spells
Option - Select inventory
Option, Option - Character
Pause - Pause and game setup
5 - Select auto-map screen
4 - Select spells screen
6 - Select weapons screen
1/7 - Select weapon / spell #1
2/8 - Select weapon / spell #2
3/9 - Select weapon / spell #3

When game paused, the following key functions exist:

A - Adjust music volume.
B - Adjust effects volume.
C - Adjust controller setup.
Option - Quit current game.

Players using an Atari Pro-Controller can also use:

L - Select spells screen
R - Select weapons screen
Z - Select weapon / spell #1
Y - Select weapon / spell #2
X - Select weapon / spell #3

On screen, the player will see the player character and his immediate dungeon surroundings, his mana and health bars, 9 inventory items, the default spell and weapon selections, and a scrolling dialogue with updates on creatures discovered.

Your level of interest will polled soon, and a demo of the functionality in the form of a downloadable BJL joypad demo, will be available soon from the web-site, which should be available soon. A 2001 release of this 1st demo is sadly missed.

If completed, this game will be released on Atari Jaguar cartridge, and we will assess the viability of the JagFreeCD solution once that is available, but this would require a considerabe re-working of an existing system memory allocation.

Please feel free to flame and/or praise as you see fit, pending a demo release. All we ask is that you apologise to us for flames once the demo is downloaded and you see reasonable proof that this project is alive and well in obscurity.
